She and I met there for the primary purpose of getting promotional photos for Shining Lil Nic–a stallion owned by one of my favorite clients, Janiejill and Bill Tointon of Diamond Double T Ranch. After that shoot, I promised Kimerlee I would blog about our weekend and am only now getting around to it. I’m glad I waited, though, as time has further secured my appreciation for Kimerlee’s work. That extra time has allowed me to compile more of what I’ve come to know and love about Kimerlee Curyl and her brilliance.

Just this past Friday, I was invited to be one of a few subjects for a photo shoot with Kimerlee and a group of PHENOMINAL photographer women shown in the video below. I cleaned up my horse and hauled him down to the stunning equine facility and winery, Bella Cavalli Farms (within Flag is Up Farms) in Santa Ynez. There’s nothing quite like being around women who are in their element. I took this video (located in the wine tasting room, hosted by Jeff Lockwood) because I felt it captured the ease with which these women related to each other and creative bond they obviously share. It reminded me of Virginia Woolf’s novel: A Room of One’s Own. Women are especially remarkable when they are given the freedom and platform with which to explore their passions. Note the photography posted around this wine tasting room–also Kimerlee’s work.

I continue to marvel at Kimerlee’s work. Her gifts make me and my work look good! Thank you, Kimerlee!

In February of this year, I attended the NSHA’s Cowhorse Classic with equine photographer Kimerlee Curyl.
